Jane Bruning

National Coordinator

Jane Bruning has been the National Coordinator for Positive Women Inc since September 2005. She is a mother and very proud grandmother and has been living with HIV since 1988.

Apart from having a Graduate Diploma in Not for Profit Management, Jane also has a Masters in Social Practice (MScoP) 1st Class Honours. Her thesis is entitled Stigma and Women living with HIV: A Cooperative Inquiry.

Jane was the Asia Pacific UNAIDS PCB NGO Delegate from 2011-2013.

Born in Holland, Jane immigrated to Aotearoa at the age of four. She is passionate about travelling, having gained a National Certificate in Travel and Tourism. She has travelled extensively and lived in Tanzania for nearly 12 years.

Judith Mukakayange

Community Support and Health Coordinator

Judith is both a mother and grandmother. She was given an HIV diagnoses when she arrived in Aotearoa in 1998 from Rwanda. 

Judith has a Bachelors Degree in Health Promotion. She has worked with people living with HIV and communities affected by HIV in Aotearoa since 2014.

Positive Speakers Bureau Coordinator

Kit has taken up the role of Positive Speakers Bureau Coordinator after 17 years working in Retail Management. He has most recently been working in Human Resources within the Primary Health Care Sector where he currently still works. Kit is passionate about educating the wider health care workforce to reduce stigma and provide more equitable health outcomes for people living with HIV. Kit is based in Whakatū Nelson.

Project Lead Ageing with HIV

A career in both the not-for-profit and private sectors, Abby brings her knowledge and experience of building organisational capability, project management, and advocacy for sexual and reproductive health and rights, to the Positive Women Inc. team.

Based in Wellington, Abby manages her role around her young family’s needs.

Ash Ali-Aziz

Project Coordinator Refugee and Migrant HIV Prevention and Support Programme

Ash is a marketing professional with a master's degree. She has taught marketing at a university and owned her own marketing consulting business. She has also worked on several projects with non-profit organizations, particularly in the refugee and migrant sector. Most recently she has founded a charity that champions cultural diversity in New Zealand. Currently, she is leading the Refugee and Migrant HIV Prevention and Support Programme with us

Benji Watt

Benji Watt

HIV and STI Tester

Benji is a Massey University student studying a double major in History and Sociology. He came to us when he began a sexual health testing project as part of the universities collaboration work with their students to create a better student experience. Benji now works with us as a HIV and STI tester in our Auckland office, and does additional work developing projects surrounding HIV.
