The Annual Burnett Foundation Big Gay Out was held on Sunday 18 February 2024.
Positive Women Inc. joined forces with Toitū te Ao and the Burnett Centre, offering HIV testing on site. It was a very busy day with the team testing 75 people from all walks of life, between midday and 5pm.
“People were lining up for a test” said Judith, Community Health, and Support Coordinator for Positive Women Inc. “it was amazing”.
Always a fun day to celebrate the rainbow community and to raise awareness about HIV and a good opportunity to raise awareness with Government. We were lucky to have Associate Minister of Health Hon. Matt Doocey stopped by the testing stall and he was very interested to know about home testing. This year also included some demonstrations, but it did not detract from the purpose of the day although the Prime Minister did look a little disturbed.
