Hot of the press – Toitū te Ao

We are very excited to congratulate and welcome the creation of a new Māori people living with HIV network called Toitū te Ao.
Toitū te Ao will be offering support, by Māori for Māori, living with HIV as well as providing educational information and advocacy with an indigenous lens.

The organisation was started by Milly Stewart, Ben Black, Geoff Rua’ine and Tawhanga Nopera, all people living with HIV who identified a gap in services for Māori living with HIV with a Kaupapa Māori focus.

In its early stages but soon to be a big player in the HIV Sector, Toitū te Ao stands on the values of:
Manaakitanga, supporting Māori living with HIV through their journey of discovery with a holistic approach for people’s total wellbeing.
Kaitiakitanga, in identifying support networks to strengthen connections and well being of oneself, whanau, hapū and Iwi
Wāriutanga, by engaging in diverse, innovative, critical Māori thinking to advance the human element of ‘Te Ira Tangata’.

If you would like to become a member of Toitū te Ao or find out more about them, you can email them on positivemaori@toituteao.org
Alternatively, you can phone Milly 0210 870 1747, Ben 0221 594 391 or Geoff 021 864 222

Positive Women Inc. is looking forward to working closely with Toitū te Ao
