This free online course has been created in response to a need for accessible, accurate, and up-to-date information about HIV prevention, treatment, and stigma.
The course is self-paced and could easily be completed in under 2 hours. By the end of the course you will be able to:
- Identify what HIV is, and the difference between HIV and AIDS
- Identify how HIV is transmitted and how transmission can be effectively prevented
- Define what Undetectable = Untransmittable (U = U) means and the benefits of having an undetectable viral load.
- Outline the current New Zealand Ministry of Health recommendations on HIV and breastfeeding.
- Define and identify HIV related stigma and discrimination
If you are a registered practitioner, you may qualify to receive CPD points or education credits. Currently the course has been endorsed for credits by the New Zealand Dental Association, Midwifery Council, and the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners.
Understanding HIV can help reduce stigma as well as help educate others. If you haven’t already, try it – empower yourself or validate what you already know.
