In 2024, Positive Women Inc. intensified its commitment to HIV testing and sexual health. In partnership with Auckland Sexual Health Services and the Burnett Foundation, we’ve expanded our testing to include Syphilis, gonorrhea, and Chlamydia. Since January, we’ve conducted over 240 tests.
Our outreach spans universities and community events, including Auckland Pride and the Big Gay Out. We are also offering Saturday Testing in collaboration with the Burnett and Drug Foundation, offering confidential drug checking alongside vital sexual health services.
To complement the work being done so far, Positive Women Inc., in partnership with Toitū te Ao, who created the beautiful logo, we have developed a status neutral website called Ka mōhio, ka marama, or HIV Beter2Know (HIVB2K). Click here to see the website. The website has only had a soft launch so far as we are still developing some aspects of it.
The website aims to be a space to provide information about HIV and the importance of testing. It includes a directory of where people can get tested throughout the country.
The aim is to include a training module on the site so community organisations and leaders can train how to do HIV rapid testing themselves and subsequently expand, and standardise, HIV testing in the community and to reduce the stigma about testing for HIV or living with HIV.
