Tēnā koutou for the last time this year, and what another strange sort of year it has been.  It has sped past so fast yet at times gone so slowly. I feel like we have been living in a giant global experiment. Conditions to test even the strongest of nerves and resilience.  Yet here we are once again. That time of year to slow down, relax a little and celebrate whatever kind of holiday and festivities we each believe in.

We are very sad to inform you that our social worker, Marietta Chapman, will be leaving the team at the end of January 2022. Marietta has been working with Positive Women Inc. for 11 years and we have been extremely lucky to have had her on the team. Marietta is going to be very sorely missed, especially by the many women she has worked with, supported, and assisted over the past 11 years.

This year for World AIDS Day we released the final part of the Sperm Positive Campaign by releasing a book called ‘The Baby who changed the World’ – How to make a baby when living with HIV.  The book tells the story of Amy, the first baby born through Sperm Positive, as well as 7 other stories of babies born, who has a parent who is living with HIV.

On 16 November 2021, was a webinar hosted by Positive Women Victoria (Australia). on ‘Menopause and Women Living with HIV’, which included the guest speaker Dr Nneka Nwokolo, a renowned HIV and sexual health consultant, who joined the webinar from the UK.

On World AIDS Day 2021 Dr Elizabeth Kerekere, Greens List MP, held a very special Zoom, focusing on the topic of stigma experienced by people living with HIV. The evening was grounded in a research project undertaken by the Kirby Institute in collaboration with a number of Australian people living with HIV networks.
