I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter and Anzac break.  For our household this meant the arrival of two new members to the family, Hazel on the left and Bristle on the right. I am talking about the cats, not my grandsons. They are very cute and have kept us entertained with their playful antics.

Positive Women Inc. recently received the news that Jason Myers, Chief Executive of the New Zealand AIDS Foundation has resigned and is moving on to a new job.

Positive Women Inc. has been holding zoom workshops every two months since before COVID but as a response to COVID and feedback received from members saying they felt isolated, particularly those in the regions, we subsequently increased the workshops to run every month.

We are thrilled to share with you that our HIV Essentials online course received an endorsement by the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners (RNZCGP). This means that any GPs who complete our HIV Essential course can claim 2 credits towards their continuing professional development. Along with the NZ Midwifery Association and the NZ Dental Associations brings our total number of endorsements to three!

In January we organised a mindfulness workshop for our members with Psychologist, Anastasia Dailiani from the Anxiety Trust. Mindfulness is a helpful tool to learn, particularly in these uncertain and worrying times. It can be used for reducing anxiety and worries and to help us feel calmer and more relaxed.

The HIV Women's Seminar is an important event for our community. However, with the COVID predictions for 2022 and with the safety of our members being our top priority, we believe it could be risky to run the Seminar in its current format this year.
